SUMMARY: News organization Common Dreams collected real-time reactions to the Republican controlled Senate vote on a sweeping budget measure. Fifty-one Republican Senators – with no bi-partisan support – voted to cut $500 million from Medicare and an additional $1 trillion from Medicaid.

Advocates watching the legislation called the vote “despicable” and “horrific,” due to the potential for a long term transfer of funding from our most important health priorities to tax cuts for corporations and the very wealthy.
